INVOTEX
Invotex Group│ Invotex Capital
The story behind Invotex started at Merensky high school in the boys hostel. It was two young passionate individuals (Thapelo Mashilane and Junior Mlondobuzi), Brainstorming an idea of starting a company in the mining sector . Their breakthrough came in 2016 after being given orders to register a mining service company and they soon realized that something that was once a dream is now coming to a reality. As young enthusiastic entrepreneurs they recall how this was an indication that the winds of change had started blowing. Along the way they had a few encounters with the major mining industries some were more fruitful than others. Among other encounters they were given the opportunity to present to investors in Dubai, in that concurrence alone their expert advise (from the investors) suggested that they change their company from a mining company to management consulting company because that was their main peculiarity, and those were the services they were aspiring to offer.” We have worked with big and influential companies in South Africa. It hasn’t been an easy journey but we saw a gap in the market and that there were not a lot of black people within the consulting mining industry but we grow and learn every day “, Junior said.
Invotex is a boutique management consulting company but on the ground level they have their hands on different industries, in catering for these industries they have divisions some of these are subsidiaries and some are part of the main company.
Invotex group symbolises our drive to have the biggest conglomerate in Africa and the world. The company logo has 3 cylindrical spheres, a representation of a vortex. Each of the 3 cylindrical spheres represent the markets they want to tap into and the vortex in itself also represents our drive as a company to start small but one day cause a huge uproar within the business space, just like how science does not really understand vortexes but they still carry serious consequences for objects within their space. Junior continues to explain that in their company they wanted to come and change the way things are run and seen within the field because they’re visionaries”

What is your driving force?
The need to have a business impact in the mining industry and African continent and the world. There’s a misconception that black owned companies can never provide quality services, apart from doing tenders with the government and can never make it past 10 years and can never make a change expand or compete on a global scale, these misconceptions fuel us and make us want to work more than an average company. We have seen our flaws earlier on before becoming too big so passion to make a difference and always trying to see things in a different view. There is still a lot of improvements that need to be considered in different industries and we are hungry to make the changes. We will never stop striving to be better and never stop towards making a change and growing. From where we are we would like to see ourselves compete with the likes of Steinhoff, Bidvest and Massmart so diversification is key.
Who is your role model?
Thapelo Mashilane:
Elon Musk even though he experienced so many challenges while he was in South Africa he never let his circumstances stop him. He found a way and he is now one of the biggest visionaries and entrepreneurs in the world
Junior:
Doctor Richard Maponya, MR Nkuna from Masingita Group (situated in Giyani) on group breaking property development, Anita Otto Dollar this is a man who lost all his wealth and was able to bounce back and MR Aliko Dangote his company is ground breaking and runs a diverse group.
What challenges do you come across within this particular field?
People have a misconception that with age comes credibility, experience which makes it hard for the young upcoming industries to penetrate the market because of the age factor that is always put to it.
The government needs to do more especially for young businesses and make us empowered and give more opportunities for us and embrace us more and guide us through processes they think are correct.
It’s harder for young and black businesses to tap in a white dominated industry and have business in a private sector
As a black field we need to pull our weight .We need to prove ourselves and that’s what motivates us. The fact that we have knocked on a lot of closed doors at this early stage of our journey drives us.
What advice would you give to the youngsters?
It all begins in the mind, our generation tends to think small and you need to realise that the universe gives you what you manifests into it.If you think small you will get small results. Don’t let your circumstances define who you are rather focus on what you aspire to be.Elon Musk was a highshool kid in Pretoria look at where he is right now who would have thought that he was going to revolutionalise. So always follow your passion and work hard at what you do.
